The Women Build is off to a GREAT start!

The Habitat Women Build project was kicked off on May 10th with the Walk Home.  Over $10,000 was raise to help build the house!

"I am so proud of how the Tri-City community has embraced the Women Build...its amazing!  Our expectations are always exceeded...whether its the number of volunteers, the support our local corporations are showing, or the number of walkers that turned out for the Walk Home.  This is such a generous community." ~Connie Corcoran, Habitat for Humanity Women Build Project Coordinator

CH2M Hill hosted the first official build day on May 16th.  Over 40 volunteers made sure the ICF (insulated concrete form) exterior walls were ready for concrete.  While the ladies from CH2M Hill were busy working on the build, Senior Management showed their support by bar-b-quing hot dogs and hamburgers while donned in their HOT PINK apron.

KONA radio station broadcasted from the job site during the CH2M Hill sponsored build day.  Doug and Denise were great, showing their support to the ladies!  Next time we'll get a hammer in Denise's hand!

Lockheed Martin hosted a sponsor day on May 17th.  Not only did the Lockheed ladies finish the exterior walls on the Women Build house, they were able to finish the walls on the Habitat House next door!  Way to go ladies!  The project is already ahead of schedule!

The construction activities are underway.  The exterior walls are up, and the interiors are being framed.  Here's a perfect opportunity to learn how to read plans, layout the interior walls, use some hand and power tools, or just come out for some fun!

Check out the VolunteerUp! schedule under the Women Build for the next open build day, or call the Habitat Office at (509) 943-5555 to sign up.
